    Research tells us that 87% of us do not have passion for our work, and that 82% of managers do not have the talent required for their role.  It is no wonder that the average number of career transitions is 6 – and going up.  In today’s world, you must take responsibility for your own career.  The lessons we are learning from the Millennials tell us that if we don’t make the changes in the organization, they are going to go elsewhere.  So what can Human Resources, and the organization do?  How do we provide the needed opportunities for our work force as they continue to Maneuver their Career – and keep the top talent we need?

    Join James as he discusses a few of his strategies from his book “Maneuvering Your Career – 20 Strategies to Prepare You for Voluntary (or Involuntary) Career Transition” – and introduces a new way of thinking about Talent Mobility in your own organization. 

    As Leaders of our own careers, and as Leaders in our organization – we are called to do two things – 1) take personal steps to Maneuver our own Career to always be prepared for transition, and 2) provide opportunities within our own organizations for others to grow so we retain our top talent.  Doing those two things have become more and more difficult.  Because most workers today are not passionate about their work – it doesn’t take much to stand out and engage differently.  It also doesn’t take much for organizations to lead differently.  Learn about simple steps that can make you and your organization stand out.


    James K. Lehman is a HR Transformation Consultant, Author, Speaker, Workshop Leader, and a Life & Career Transition Coach. After starting his career as a CPA, he transitioned into consulting, and then HR focusing on HR Transformation, system selection and implementation.  He is a SPHR, SHRM-SCP, Certified Professional Coach, and an Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner.  He is the author of "Maneuvering Your Career - 20 Strategies to Prepare You for Voluntary (or Involuntary) Career Transition."  He also is a past Board Member for IHRIM (International Association for Human Resources Information Management).
